El Cortez.
Elco.
Probably the most Vegas property of any Vegas property.
If you could only recommend one property to someone in Vegas, it's this, or Circus Circus.
They have that perfect mix of history, old school charm, vintage vibes, coin slots, etc.
El Cortez is truly one of the all-time greats.
This is my #1 place I think about when I have a day off work. My perfect day is heading here for some light gaming before lunch, maybe go back again after, there's like 6 different regions in El Cortez - so always plenty to check out!
Favorite Memory: The Original 47
One time we stayed in the Original 47 rooms, really cool throwback experience to Vegas at a simpler time.
Side note - the room was so cigarette smell heavy I literally couldn't sleep, like it's the "original" 47 so be prepared for that, between the old school mattress and the allergens, it's not the most comfortable night of sleep ever - but definitely worth it to be able to say you've experienced it!
The El Cortez History Hallway.
Takes you from the Old El Cortez gaming floor, to the new El Cortez gaming floor.
This is the type of stuff people love about Vegas!
It's done in partnership with the Mob Museum, so it's actually kinda neat.
Favorite Memory: The Smell.
As soon as you walk through these doors - Coconut, Pineapple, Cigarettes.
It's heavenly.
This machine was only around for about 10 minutes. Never saw it anywhere else other than here.
Now every game is "Prosperity Tree of Fortune and Luck" and doesn't pay shit.
Glad I took a picture of it!
Prosperity Tree what? Close enough.
Favorite Memory: The Crooner.
Michael Nugent at the Parlour Bar - 5pm to 9pm, sometimes.
Having a lounge singer randomly performing to a room with 3 people in it is an element of Vegas that's much appreciated and missing from lots of places.
Really enhances the gambling experience for me. So stop in once in a while and drop a few bucks on a tip, before the corporate bean counters get rid of this too.
Did you know - if you put cash in and just hit cash out, you can keep tokens?
Good way to commemorate / souvenir.
Dab.
Best casino carpet in Vegas? Might be!
When they did the renovations they were selling squares of it for like $20, one of my biggest regrets ever is that I didn't buy one!
How much?? At El Cortez? Damn.
Thought this was the Venetian.
Ok when I made that joke about "Prosperity Tree of Fortune and Luck", I'm talking about this game.
This is literally the worst slot machine in Las Vegas.
And I should know, I've played most of them!
